Interview with 4 month Jujy

Some of you may remember the video of Hollis interviewing Sydney when she was 4 months old. We put Julia through the same grueling process at the same age. She doesn't know what she wants to do with her life either.

Baby Whisperer

At dinner the other night I whispered to Sydney that we have blueberries and oranges for dessert. I look over at Julia and she puts her chubby hand to her mouth and starts to whisper back. We thought it was hilarious and tried to capture it on video during bathtime. My attempts to make her whisper were thwarted by Sydney's attempts to make her bark when she cues "Who let the dogs out!?"

Last Day at Little Gym

On the last day of Little Gym all the kids put on a show for the parents and grandparents. Here's Sydney performing a routine on the floor, uneven bars and balance beam. At the end each kid got a medal. Unfortunately for Sydney, Julia decided she deserved a medal as well and stripped Sydney of hers.

A Visit from Ginny's Family

Christopher, Jordan, Justin, Taylor, Olivia, and Philip (not pictured) came for a visit over Memorial day weekend. The children (a term which is more appropriately applied to some than others) are playing "Don't Break the Ice."

Does Santa Smoke?

Sydney has recently learned that smoking is bad for you. As we're driving to ballet class listening to Jingle Bells on CD (yes, in the middle of June) Sydney asked me, "Mommy? Does Santa smoke? I saw a picture of him smoking a pipe." Which is true! There's a picture of him smoking a pipe in "Twas the night before Christmas." What would you tell her?

Hollis' Last Day at Work

Today is Hollis' last day at work before he takes the summer off. He's been looking forward to this day for quite some time oftentimes dancing or screaming in anticipation of the day where he can sit around the house unshaven and unshowered watching re-runs of Frasier. Here's the conversation Sydney and Hollis had on the way to school this morning in Hollis' car.

Hollis: TODAY IS DADDY'S LAST DAY AT WORK!!

Sydney: Is it all the daddys' last day at work?

Hollis: No, not all the daddys. Just Daddy. Because Daddy's special.

Sydney: Oh.

Sydney: Are you going to get a medal?

Hollis: No, I'm not going to get a medal.

Sydney: Oh.

Sydney: Are you going to get a trophy?

Hollis: No, I'm not going to get a trophy.

Sydney: Oh.

Apparently Sydney doesn't think it's such a big deal if you're not getting a medal or trophy.
